Old Cardboard Boxes to Adjustable Table!
This easy design allows you to create an adjustable table perfect for holding small knick knacks around your room, or if you happen to have some, makeup.
Supplies
The supplies you're going to need for this project are:
1. Cardboard
2. Hot glue
3. Scissors/box cutter/some way to cut the cardboard
4. Paint or markers (optional: this is just to decorate your shelf with if you'd like to.)
The first step is to cut your cardboard into pieces that resemble the ones above. The dimensions are as follows:
1: 8 1/2 inches x 8 1/2 inches
2: 8 1/2 inches x 2 1/2 inches
3: 2 1/4 inches x 1 inch
4: 3 1/2 inches x 1/2 inch
5. 3 1/2 inches by 1 1/8 inches
Attach the two pieces labeled "3" to the ends of one of the 1 panels directly across from one another with the hot glue.
After you've attached the "3" pieces to the sides of one of the "1" panels, secure the "2" panel in between the "3" panels with hot glue to act as a way to keep the second "1" panel from slipping around when extending or shrinking the shelf. To help, place your second "1" panel on top of the one that has the two "3" panels attached to it and see how far up you have to place your "belt." (Refer to pictures for extra guidance)
Grab your second "1" panel that has nothing stuck to it and your "4" panel. Place your "4" panel at the edge of the "1" panel you have the has nothing on it, and attach the two (refer to pictures for "4" panel placement.) After the "4" panel has been attached to the edge of the second "1" panel, slide the second "1" panel under the belt we previously made. The "4" panel will make it so that the "1" panel can only move out a certain amount and won't fall out of the belt.
The final step to finish this adjustable table is to add legs on the ends of the two "1" panels. For this, our "5" panels will be the legs to our table. Attach the "5" panels to the ends of the "1" panels with hot glue as shown in the picture to finish the table!
Congratulations, you just built your very own adjustable table! An optional step is to use markers or paint to decorate the table to your liking.
