I am delighted to share this recipe my old ma passed down to me when I was a lad in Glasgow. She was a fine woman and knew her way around the kitchen! Now, you might be saying to yourself "Oh, big deal, Nutella cookies... I've had those, they're ok." .......... you've got some nerve mister... These cookies pack a punch! A punch of love right into your soul! Because just when you think it's a regular old cookie, you take a bite and find that it's got big old Nutella surprise, hiding in the middle, unseen, just waiting to bust free and tickle your fancy.

I hope this recipe for these chocolate Nutella cookies brings you years of joy and shares the love my mom had for this world.

  1. Now depending on the temperature and humidity of your location, and the temperature of the butter you started with, working the dough now might be difficult. I recommend putting the dough into the fridge for at least 30 mins to cool and become easier to work with,

  1. With the dough cooled, we can start making cookies!
  2. Preheat the oven to 420 degrees F.
  3. Prepare your baking sheet and get your kitchen scales ready.
  4. Scoop out some dough and weigh it. You'll want each dough ball to weigh around 4.5 ounces.
  5. Once you've got a few balls at the right weight, you'll need to work them into little pancakes. I like to kinda mush them in my hands until they are loose enough to flatten out without breaking or becoming brittle.

  1. Once you've got your little cookie disks, scoop in a tablespoon of Nutella. I use one spoon to scoop the Nutella and another spoon to scrape it off the first spoon and into the centre of the cookie disk.
  2. Now pick up the disk and make a little dumpling out of it, pinching the dough together around the Nutella.
  3. Once you've got your dumpling, shape in back into a ball and your done.
  4. Repeat the process and place these wonderful Nutella balls a couple inches away from each other on the baking sheet.
  5. Once the oven is ready, pop the first batch in and bake them on the middle rack for about 11-12 mins.

  1. After 11-12 mins, the beautiful smell of these delicious works of art should have wafted to every corner of your home and brought the other occupants to the kitchen.
  2. Take the cookies out and let them sit for about half an hour. During this time, regale your visitors with stories of glory from your youth. Or tell them this joke: "Why do we Scottish people make our chilli with 239 beans? Because if we added even one more bean, it would make it too farty."
  3. Cookies are done!! Enjoy!
