Wish you could drink the cherry substitute of the 200 year old, covered in grime, and found in the basement stuff on the other side of the screen? no? oh....ok... well i made it anyway but it doesn't glow...but you don't want it anyway...
Supplies
- 1 cup of purified water
- 2 cups of sugar
- 1 lemon zested and juiced (give or take a wedge for lemon juice, the cherry can be overpowering)
- 1 lime zested and juiced (substitute 1 additional lemon)
- 2 tablespoons of pomegranate juice and 2 of hawaiian punch(substitute: 4 tablespoons cherry juice)
- a few liters of seltzer water
Make the Syrup
put everything except the dye, citric acid, and lemon/lime juice in a medium saucepan over medium heat. wait till the sugar has dissolved and then bring to a boil. reduce heat to a simmer for 10 minutes.
remove heat and strain to a heat resistant bowl. add lime and lemon juice, citric acid, and food dye. chill for at least 12 hours and up to 2 weeks.
Make Soda
add 4 tablespoons of syrup per a cup of seltzer water then stir together. add ice and enjoy!
