Nerf Modulus Stock Reinforcement

When you first get the Nerf Modulus stock you'll find it very flimsy. The orange plastic struts simply aren't stiff enough to give the stock a decent feel. This instructable will show how to easily reinforce those to make a good sturdy stock.

This requires only a few simple things.

A few inches of 1/2" CPVC

A cutting wheel or saw.

Sandpaper

Superglue ( optional )

Paint &/or Vinyl Dye ( optional )

First remove the 5 screws that hold the stock together & set them aside. You'll see that the orange struts form a U shape inside the back end of the stock. Cut out the center portion of the U Leaving two straight struts as shown.

The front end of the stock will now resemble this. Round off the pegs on the end of each strut as I have on the lower one.

Grind off the pegs until the Cpvc will slip over them.

Cut two pieces of the Cpvc to the length of the exposed part of the struts. Remember always cut long. It's far easier to sand away extra than to come up short & have to start over. Sand the ends of the CPVC smooth and test fit repeatedly until your new strut reinforcements fit snugly in place.

Done properly they will fit quite tightly. For extra strength you may even consider super-gluing the front ends of each to the locking mechanism block. ( optional )

Replace the second side and replace the screws. Your improved stock will be far stiffer than the original and still snap on & off almost any gun cleanly.

Now just paint to match your blaster ( optional ).
I recommend using the Paint & Vinyl dye spray you find at most auto parts stores. Unlike typical paints it soaks into the plastic to color it making it far more flake & scratch resistant. If you want to tape off some of the edges between colors use electrical tape as the dye can soak through normal painters or masking tape.
