Necklace "Dream in the Center of the Solar System" ⭐
Hello everyone,
Today, I am making you travel to the Center of the Solar System with this very original Necklace, representative of the Planets of the Solar System.
I chose to use the soutache sewing technique in order to be able to work all the shapes and colors individually to represent all the Planets.
I wanted an imposing and dazzling effect, the same we have when we are in total awe of the Galaxy images.
Follow me step by step if you want to wear the entire Galaxy around your neck and dream your head in the Stars.
Supplies
Material required:
- Soutache cords in nylon 3mm: 12 cords in nylon of different colors (white, metalized gold, lurex white, yellow, turquoise, blue, purple, red, orange, salmon orange, navy blue)
- 1 white fabric Ribbon (1 meter)
- Nylon to sew the fibers 0,10
- Pearl sewing needles, Nb 10/13.
- Scissors
- Liquid Glue
- 1 large Star pendant in golden stainless steel
- Small perforated Hematite Stars (blue, silver and gold)
- Faceted crystal beads (blue and yellow)
- Small seed beads (blue, yellow, orange and transparent)
- Small blue tube beads
The planets:
- 1 Large crackle Crystal bead
- 1 Medium flat golden Crystal bead
- 1 Yellow pearl in cat's eye
- 1 Gray speckled Resin bead
- 1 Blue veined flat pearl
- 1 White glass round pearl with reflections
- 1 Round red Resin bead
- 1 Large round Resin bead with integrated shell
- 1 Round orange Resin bead
- 1 Round blue cat's eye bead
- 1 Round navy blue cat's eye bead
- 1 Small crackle Crystal bead
Crystal Sun
To make the Sun, you need a large cracked crystal bead and 3 soutache cords (1 white, 1 lurex white and 1 metallic gold).
Pass the needle and nylon through the soutache cords to give it a rounded shape.
Then pass the needle through the hole in the bead to secure it. Finally, sew the 6 soutache cordss to unite them together. Sew a small transparent seed bead in the center to decorate.
Sunlight
To give the Sunlight effect, I chose to use faceted yellow pearls. They are bright and full of reflections, like the Sun.
Sew the 6 soutache cords together in a rounded fashion so that you sew a golden crystal bead in the middle.
Go back with only the outer soutache cords. Sew the crystal beads in the middle, one by one. Then put a drop of liquid glue on the last remaining soutache cords.
Mercury
To make Mercury, you need a yellow cat's eye bead. And 2 soutache cords (1 white, 1 yellow).
Sew the 2 soutache cords together in a rounded fashion. Then pass the needle through the bead to secure it in the middle. Unite the 4 soutache cords with a small yellow seed bead. Then make a flap on each side with a faceted blue crystal bead. Place a drop of liquid glue on the 2 ends to be cut, then join them together behind.
Sew Seed Beads
Add a row of 2 soutache cords (turquoise and purple) by sewing small blue seed beads in the middle. Fold on each side, put a drop of liquid glue on the ends to be cut. Then sew them together.
Venus
To make Venus, I chose to use a speckled resin bead. Take 4 soutache cords (turquoise, blue, yellow and purple) to sew around the bead. Pass your needle through the bead to secure it.
Then place a drop of liquid glue on the back part to be cut.
Earth & Moon
Sew the 4 soutache cords in a rounded fashion to give them a shape of 8. In the same way, insert the blue veined flat bead to imitate the planet Earth. Then fold the soutache cords in a rounded fashion to sew the white glass bead. Its reflections imitate the Moon. Pass the soutache cords behind, then apply a drop of liquid glue before cutting them.
Mars
To make Mars, I chose a resin bead of an intense red like the planet. Use 3 soutache cords (red, turquoise and purple). Pass your needle through the bead to fix it, then unify the 6 soutache cords together.
Sew a red crystal bead on each side. However, you have to cut the soutache cordss on one side and leave them on the other side in order to make a comeback with the small turquoise seed beads. Place a drop of liquid glue on the soutache cords then cut.
Jupiter
To make Jupiter, I chose a large resin bead and integrated shell to imitate the grandeur of the planet Jupiter. You need 3 soutache cords (orange, red and purple).
Sew the 3 soutache cords in a rounded fashion. Then pass the needle through the bead to secure it in the center. Unify the 6 soutache cords with a small orange seed bead. Then sew all the soutache cords together, in a round manner. Fix a pink crystal bead in the center, then fold everything behind. Place a drop of liquid glue and cut.
Saturn
To make Saturn, I used a resin bead like the one from Mars, but of a lighter color (salmon orange). You need 5 soutache cords (salmon orange, metallic gold, turquoise, blue and purple).
Sew the soutache cordss around the bead, then pass your needle through the hole in the bead to fix it in the center. Unite all the soutache cords with a small orange seed bead. Bind off one side to sew a faceted turquoise bead on it. Then drop a drop of liquid glue and cut.
Bind off the other side to sew the same bead there, but do not cut anything. Turn the soutache cords in the opposite direction. Sew a series of small blue seed beads in the middle.
Finally, place all your items on the table to take the measurements and give them a good tilt.
Uranus
To create Uranus, use a blue cat's eye bead and 4 soutache cords (blue, navy blue, turquoise and purple).
Sew the soutache cords together to give them a rounded shape. Then, pass your needle through the hole in the bead through the soutache cords. Unify them with a small blue tube bead.
Sew a Series of Small Beads
Bind off one of the 2 sides to sew a series of small transparent seed beads there. When you have made the tour, go back again to sew a series of slightly larger blue beads. Stop in the middle of a circle.
Neptune
Insert the navy blue cat's eye bead to represent Neptune.
Fold all the soutache cords behind and go back to make a row with 8 soutache cords. Insert a small crackle crystal bead (identical to the one used for the Sun), then fold the soutache cords behind. Place a drop of liquid glue and cut.
Sew 2 Pieces Together
You must now reattach all the parts together. Start with the most recent ones. Sew small blue hematite Stars on the junctions to embellish the necklace. Go through all the soutache cords with the needle to unify them.
Add Ranks
Sew 3 soutache cords (blue, turquoise and purple) between these 2 planets (Mars and Jupiter) to unify them and embellish them with small Stars in gold and blue Hematite.
Add Stars
Add another row of soutache cords (blue, turquoise and metallic gold) on the Earth, then insert small silver Hematite Stars. Place all your elements to control the correct arrangement.
Assemble the Pieces
It is now necessary to sew all the elements together, passing through and through soutache cords. You have to work on the back side of the necklace. Add Mercury.
Mark Before Sewing
Position the Sun correctly according to its inclination. To avoid any mistakes, I advise you to mark the stitches to be sewn with the point of a pen. Sew the Sun and Neptune together. Then to add a ray of sunshine effect that continues, sew a series of 3 beads on each side (1 small transparent bead, 1 turquoise crystal bead and yet another small transparent bead). The reflection of these pearls matches the glow of the sun's rays.
The Pendant and the Choker
Sew a large golden stainless steel Star between Mars and Jupiter.
Choose a beautiful white fabric ribbon of the desired length to make ths choker. Bind off the ends of the ribbon twice then sew them to prevent slipping and to obtain a nice finish. Finally, sew them behind the Sun and Neptune, going through and through soutache cords.
