Mummy Cake Pops
Mummy cake pops are anything but a spooky surprise. With a green inside and a spooktacular outside perfect for any Halloween party or even hanging out with family. Follow these small steps and you will get the treat of your dreams.
Supplies
Cake Recipe
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup milk
- 3 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
Buttercream Recipe
- 1/2 cup of butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 tablespoons milk
Extra stuff
- 8'' cake pan
- cake pop sticks or cut wooden skewers
- white chocolate or melting chocolate (Candy Melts recommended)
- green food dye
- eye sprinkles
- Mixer (recommended)
- Cake pop holder
Preheat the Oven
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. (180 Celcius)
Combine Dry Ingredients
Next whisk your flour, baking powder, and salt into a bowl and set aside.
Beat Eggs
Beat your eggs in a stand mixer on high for 30 seconds and then let them mix for 7-8 more minutes until light and fluffy.
Heat Up Milk and Butter
While the eggs are beating put your butter and milk into a microwave-safe container and let melt till fully combined. Set this aside to let cool down.
Add in Dry Ingreadiants.
pour your flour mixture into the mixer slowly until fully combined.
Add Wet Ingreadiants
Next, add your melted butter and milk combination into the flour/egg mixture and then add in your vanilla extract and vegetable oil and mix till fully combined. It will be a little bit liquidy. add your sugar next to thicken up your batter.
Bake Cake
grease your 8'' pan and then pour your cake batter into the pan. tap the pan down onto a countertop to release air bubbles then put your pan into the oven. bake the cake for 30 minutes, if not fully baked by that time bake it for 5 min durations.
Make Buttercream
after your cake is done baking let it cool while you make your buttercream. First, combine your butter and powdered sugar till it gets to a paste consistency. Next, add in your vanilla extract and milk until fully incorporated. And finally, dye your frosting green.
Make Cake Pop Dough
After your buttercream is done take out your cake and crumble it. Next, add 1/3 of your frosting to the crumbled cake and mix. add more buttercream until you can form the dough into small balls. Not to much though or your cake misture will be mushy and unmoaldable.After you form the dough into balls put them into the fridge for 30 minutes.
Put the Sticks on Them
Next, you are going to melt only a little bit of your white chocolate/melting chocolate and dip your cake pop stick into it. (should only be a small dot. Then you are going to stick the cake pop stick into the cake pop ball while the chocolate is still melted. do that to the rest of your cake balls and freeze for 45 minutes.
Coat the Cake Pops
Melt most of your melting chocolate in a microwave then coat the cake pops right away. make sure they are fully covered. Then stick your cake pops in your cake pop holder and let it cool. you can freeze or let air dry.
Add Eyes
Next, you are going to get some of your extra chocolate and add two dots to the cake pop. then add the eyes.
Add the Lines
drizzle the rest of your chocolate over your cake pop and let dry. you can do this with a spoon or a piping bag.
The Final Step
Eat.
