Multi-Purpose Pencil Sharpener
What you need: A computer.
A USB.
A 3D printer.
Filament.
Access to MakerBot.
And you can Use any 3D printing software we used Tinkercad.
the First Step
Start with a sphere make it the dimensions you need we did 5 inches in width by 5 inches in length and 5 inches in height, then add tentacles we used spheres for them. They all 1 inch in length, Height, and width. we placed them all along the bottom evenly we did not put spaces between them but you can.
Step 2
Stop and check all of the dimensions and where the shapes are before continuing, if something is wrong it's best to fix it now so it's not a big hassle later. Also check to make sure the bottom of the design is touching the bottom of the workplane,
Step 3
Make the hole in the top that goes all the way through it, we used a cylinder to make the hole, then we made a hole for the pencil sharpener again we used a cylinder for the hole. Make the hole large the size that your pencil sharpener needs. Then add a layer a bit above the hole you made for the sharpener. You also need to add supports that connect the layer to the bottom of the design.
Step 4
Make sure everything at the bottom of the design is touching workplane again if it looks good you can move on. Then check all the sizes, sometimes you don't realize you made a mistake with sizes until it's already printed. so save yourself some hassle and check before you print.
You're Done Designing!
Once you're happy with your design you export it into MakerBot and make sure to check it again, then export it onto a USB and print!
Just a Small Extra Thing
Ours came out a bit odd, the layer that was supposed to be above the hole was under it. So ours can only function as a pencil holder and not a sharpener as intended. I hope your design comes out looking nice and Ihope you enjoy it!
