Motion Sensor Doorbell
When I told my son Jayden about the challenge, he immediately thought to use the LEGO WeDo set. He has played with Legos for years but it wasn't until the start of last school year that he got the opportunity to code with WeDo 2.0.
Supplies
WeDo 2.0 LEGO set
LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 app
Command hook
Assemble the Body
This is how Jayden decided he wanted the body to look.
You can get creative and make it your own by changing how the body looks.
Attach the Motion Sensor
*You want to make sure you have the motion sensor and not the tilt one*
This is how Jayden did it- again, you can change this up.
Mount on the Wall
We decided to attach it above the doorbell using a Command hook.
Program Your Sensor
*Make sure your Smarthub is connected. There should be a green Bluetooth icon over the Smarthub on the top right of your screen.
The image shows Jayden's code.
- Light is red
- Wait to detect motion
- light turns green
- Doorbell sounds. You can select one of the sounds on the app or record your own. (Jayden recorded my husband speaking like Luigi saying that someone was at the door.)
- All inserted in a loop so that if the person motions again, the doorbell will ring again.
Test It Out
Press the green play button on the app and then have someone go out and wave in front of the doorbell.
