Meatzza
I’m sure you can guess what’s coming, yes, it’s Pizza with sausage meat as a base instead of dough.
I know, it’s crazy right?
But not so crazy as you think, this is perfect for a No-Carb diet!
Yes, you heard me right, it’s a High Fat, No Carb Diet Food!
I always do this on baking paper, on a pizza tray, I don’t know if it will stick or not without, but baking paper is good insurance.
You could do it in a deep pan dish if you want.
Press out your base onto the baking paper, I’m making mine about a centimetre thick (3/8 inch).
You could just sear it in a pan over direct heat, I’m doing mine in my Gas Pizza Oven.
The idea is to cook it hot as you can, you need the bottom to go crusty enough so it won’t fall apart in the final slice. It will render out a bit of fat, tip that off.
Let the base cool a little and start layering your toppings on the same as you would for your favourite pizza.
For me, it’s tomato passata, garlic, mozzarella, Italian hot sausage, onion, capsicum (bell pepper), olives, anchovy and prawn (shrimp).
Put the Meatzza into the oven and cook like you would a “normal” pizza.
Mine took about 8 minutes.
Slice and serve to your unsuspecting friends.
Remember this is a diet food, so you can have as much as you like!
Tell your doctor I said it was OK!
