Marbled Tie-Dye Flower Pots
Potted plants are a great addition to any home. Every plant parent knows that the home their plant lives in is just as important as the care and love a plant receives. So, here’s an idea for a fun and unique pot design. Just use Tulip tie dye with a little shaving cream for a marbled result that will have all the other potted plants jealous.
Supplies
- Tulip Pretty Pastels One-Step Tie-Dye Kit
- Shaving cream (any brand)
- Terracotta pots
- Disposable tray
- Plastic knife
- White acrylic paint (optional)
Clean Your Pots & Paint a White Base If Needed
Thoroughly clean your terracotta pots. For this project, we painted the exterior of the pots with white acrylic paint as a base so the pastel tie dye can really shine! Skip this step if you are already using a white or light-colored terracotta pot.
Fill Tray With Shaving Cream & Prep Dye
Fill your disposable tray with shaving cream and prepare your tie-dye solutions.
Apply Dye on Top of Shaving Cream and Create Patterns With Knife
Apply your desired colors to the top of the shaving cream. Two or three colors per pot is best to avoid colors becoming muddled. With knife, swirl shaving cream, creating unique marbled patterns.
Roll Pot on Its Side in Dyed Shaving Cream
Gently place terracotta pot on its side into the shaving cream and roll until its completely covered in the marbled dyed shaving cream. You may need to roll it more than once for complete coverage and more intense colors.
Let Dry, Wipe Off Residue and Reveal!
Let the shaving cream and tie dye dry for at least 10 to 12 hours. The shaving cream will evaporate, and you can just wipe off the residue with a paper towel to reveal your fancy new plant home. Check out these and more fun tie-dye DIY home décor ideas at TulipColor.com.
