Making a Wooden Heart With a Mold
In this instructable I will show you how to make a simple heart mold, after that I will show you how to use it.
Drawing the Heart
Draw a heart on a piece of paper, put the paper on some wood then nail or tap the paper to the wood.
Nailing the Heart
After that start nailing 1 1/2" finish nail around the heart. This is the basic mold.
Cardboard and Duck Tape
Cut some strips of cardboard that is the same hight as the nails. Then put it inside the heart and bend it to make the same shape as the nail heart, then tape the cardboard to the nails. You just finished the mold, you could probably use this mold for much more then just wood and glue, you might be able to use it for candles, but I'm no export in candle molds.
Cutting the Wood
Then cut a lot of sticks that are all around 1-2 inches long.
Gluing the Wood
Take some wood glue and pour it into the mold until it there is about 1-2 millimeters in it. Then start randomly putting the wood into the mold.
Now let it dry for a long time...
After the Drying
After you think its been long enough, start taking of the tape on the outside and lift the heart out of the mold. The cardboard will come out with the wood. After that take the cardboard off the wood(as shown in third pic). If it is still wet on the sides after you take all the cardboard off let it dry for some more time.
Then start sanding the bottom until you think it feels smooth enough.
After that start working on the sides.
Then put something in the top if you want to hang it.
