Make a Backyard Bird Camera Using a Raspberry Pi 3 and a Webcam
I wanted to make a camera that would stream my backyard using a raspberry pi. So using the open-source software motion eye, I built a camera that you can attach to a bird feeder to watch the birds.

Supplies
- Raspberry pi 3
- usb webcam
- hdmi cable
- sd card
-computer
- microusb cable
- powerbank
ethernet cable ( only needed for first boot )
Download and Install Raspberry Pi Imager
1. download the raspberry pi imager: Raspberry Pi OS – Raspberry Pi
Download Motion Eye Onto SD Card
1. download motion eye for Raspberry pi 3: https://github.com/ccrisan/motioneyeos/releases/do...
2. open raspberry pi imager, and select custom image and select the motion eye os image
3. insert the SD card and write the image to the sd card
4. when its done writing & verifying the image eject & remove the sd card
Boot Up the Raspberry Pi
1. insert sd card into the raspberry pi's sd card slot
2. insert the usb camera into the Raspberry pi's usb port
3. connect the hdmi cable to the raspberry pi and monitor
4. connect the raspberry pi to a ethernet jack
5. plug the Raspberry pi into power
6. on the monitor you should see a ip address type the ip address into your browser on a computer
Configure Motion Eye
1. in the user box type: admin and leave the password blank
2. setup the raspberry pi outside by the bird feeder
( 3. in the motion eye settings you can connect the Raspberry Pi to wifi )
