Majestic Meatballs!

These little balls of delight are melt in your mouth delicious. In fact I'm salivating so much I'm going to have to type quickly to get this instructable completed, otherwise I'll be purchasing a waterproof keyboard.

Ingredients

  • 500g ground (minced) beef
  • 3 C sourdough breadcrumbs
  • 1 large carrot
  • 1 onion
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 C strong Beef Stock
  • splash of hickory ketchup (sauce)
  • splash of spicy chili ketchup

Place all of these ingredients into a large bowl and mix together with your hands. If you have a toddler around, get them to help out.

Pro tip # 1: A large bowl makes it so much easier...you won't be constantly fighting to keep everything from jumping out.

Pro tip # 2: Mixing it with your hands feels a little messy but it's much more efficient than using a wooden spoon.

Ball Up Your Mixture

There are a few ways to gather up the mixture. My chosen method is gather them up by hand, but you may opt to use a soup spoon or tablespoon to scoop out a measured amount.

Roll the mixture in a circular motion between the palms of your hands until you reach the desired shape.

Continue balling up the mixture and place each meatball into an oven dish.

We're going to bake our meatballs in a small bench top oven. Bake them for 30 minutes at 180C (360F) or until they are browned. Crack one open to check it is cooked through then eat it. Sample a second one for good measure.

WARNING: Delicious smells will begin to waft through your kitchen. Bar the doors from any hungry teenagers.

Pop Them In, Two by Two!

These meatballs are easily frozen for later use which gives you many serving options:

  • part of a lunch meal
  • snacks
  • eaten cold on a tramp for quick, tasty energy
  • use them in a Meatball Roll
  • as toppings on a pizza

Let me know your favorite way to use these.
