Magnetic Snap-on Dust Collector Adaptors
I have a dust collector on wheels that I move around my shop to connect to different tools as needed. These include my table saw, band saw, jointer, planer, and thickness sander. Each of these tools has a 4 inch dust collection port and I use a 6 feet long flexible 4 inch hose. To make the connection on the dust collector quick and easy I designed and 3d-printed a two piece magnetic adaptor. One piece stays permanently on the dust collector input port, the other piece is attached to the 4 inch hose.
I could install magnetic adaptors on both ends of the hose and on each tool, but for right now I’m ok with the friction fit adaptor on one end of the hose.
Supplies
12 round neodymium magnets, 3/8" diameter by 1/4" tall
3d printer and filament. I used PLA.
4 Inch Adaptor for Dust Collector Input Port
This adapter fits my Grizzly G8027 dust collector, but it should be ok for any 4“ input port. 3d print the adaptor from the attached file, then insert the magnets as shown. Be sure all magnets are oriented the same way, e.g. the south pole facing out. The magnet holes have a tiny ridge on the bottom so the magnets won’t come out. A friction fit is enough to hold the magnets in place; but you can use CA glue if you wish. I found that three magnets were sufficient to hold the hose in place, but use six magnets if you need to.
Attach the adaptor to your dust collector; use tape or screws if necessary.

4 Inch Threaded Hose Adaptor
This adaptor threads into the flexible hose; mine did not need any hose clamps. Insert the magnets again from the top as shown in step 1, they should stay in place by friction alone. Again, be sure that all magnets are installed in the proper orientation to attract to the dust collector adaptor above.

Snap in Place!
Attach the hose to the dust collector, it will snap in place. To remove, twist the adaptor/hose and pull away. Quick and easy!
