How to Build a Magazine Holder
Today we’re going to make a magazine holder.
Supplies
Materials:
One 42” by 12” sheet of 3/4” plywood
1” finishing nails
Tools:
miter saw
table saw
hammer
Prepare the Wood
The outside walls will be 10 1/4” wide.
Cut to Size
Now with the table saw cut the plywood to 10 1/4” wide. then with the miter saw cut two pieces, each 12” long.
Sides
Measure 4 3/4” from the bottom and 3” from the opposite side across the top.
Then connect the dots (drawing a diagonal line)
Cut on this line with the miter saw.
Then repeat on the other 12” by 10 1/4” piece.
Joinery
Set the fence on the table saw 3/4” away from the blade, and the blade height to 3/8”. Only cut out the front, back, and bottom. clean up with a chisel.
Front, Back, and Bottom
With the remaining wood, cut three 4” wide pieces on the table saw.
Front: 5 1/4” long (I decided to give it a 45° bevel on top)
bottom: 8 5/8” long
back: 12” long
Assembly
Assemble as shown in picture, then set other side on top (left side) nail or glue together. Sand any rough spots, paint or varnish if desired.
and you’re done!
Congratulations!
