Lighted Glove

This tutorial is how to put a light onto a glove that you can use on the slopes! This glove has many purposes such as finding things in the dark without taking off your gloves or illuminating your path down the mountain.

Glove (with multiple layers)

LED from led flashlight

Batteries from the same flashlight

Toggle on/off switch

Solder iron and solder

X-Acto knife

Electrical tape

Also, you will need some basic knowledge on soldering. The following video might help you learn a thing or two.

This may be a little tough to explain because of the many different styles of LEDs in flashlights. For the LEDs I had, I soldered one wire into the middle where there was no LED lead. I connected the second wire to any one of the LED leads. This completed the circuit and lighted the LEDs up. You may have to tinker a little bit with it, my suggestion would be to connect the wires to the battery and then take the wires and experiment with different placements of the wires until they light up.

In the middle of the glove, use the X-Acto knife to cut holes for the wires coming off the LED to go into. make the space in between the holes equal to the space in between the wires soldered on the LED. Make sure not to cut into the inside of your glove, just the outer layer. Cut 2 holes on opposite sides of the glove so you can get the wires out of the layer you put them into. After you put the wires through both the holes, pull them until the LED is tightly secured onto the middle of the glove.

Take one of the wires (does not matter which one) and solder it to the battery and protect and secure with electrical tape accordingly.

Use the other wire coming from the LED and solder it to one of the wires coming from the switch. You can cover this solder joint with electrical tape to protect it. Then take the other wire from the switch and solder it to the battery and protect with tape.

Use electrical tape to secure the battery onto the glove. Cut a hole in the outer layer of the glove and insert the switch. You can sew it tighter into place or simply tape it down.

The glove should be operational for your use down the mountain. Have fun and enjoy your new creation.
