Lego Soap

I wanted to reuse old pieces and little soaps (the ones hotels give you), using the receipe by vigothecarpathian. I did a little cat (minifig from Fabuland Lego) but it was too little and it didn't resolve the "problem" of little pieces of soap, so I tought I could do a mould from Lego bricks!

You'll need:

• Lego bricks (as much as you want)
• Oyumaru (or something else to do the mould)
• soap (I "upcycled" old and little pieces)
• 2 boilers
• cheese grater
• spatula

Optional:

• crayons
• essential oil

I used oyumaru, because it's great to do every mould!

Put together the Lego brick in the shape and size you prefer. I did a parallelepiped 5 x 8 x 2. You can of course use what you want, for example Duplo bricks.

The amount of oyumaru you need depends on how much is the Lego parallelepiped big. I needed 4 bars of oyumaru.

Boil the water (it's ok using the microwave owen) and put the oyumaru in (it should be at 80°C/176°F, but if the water boils when you take it out from the owen, it'll be at the right temperature when you'll reach the table ;D), let it melt for some minute, than flat it and put it over the Lego parallelepiped. Press it so it adheres to the Lego. Make the base flat pressing down on a table.

Let the oyumaru cool down, then take it off. You have your mould!

I used a soap that I reduced in powder sometimes ago for a work at school with my pupils, but I advice you to use "soap shreddies" as vigothecarpathian says. The soap should not be too dry, if it is, add a little water. If you follow vigothecarpathian's 'ible you'll do it right.

Put water in the bigger boiler and the soap in the littler. Put this one in the water: you'll "cook" the soap at bain marie. Stir it with the spatula.

When it's melted, you can add colours (using wax crayons) and essential oil: this can be used to "uniform" the different perfumes if you use bits of different soaps.

When it seems like raw shortcrust pastry, use the spatula to put the soap in the mould.

Let it dry for a day at open air, or put it for 2 hours in the fridge or 30 minutes in the freezer.

Take it out when it's quite dry and it's done!

It can be a little sharp-cornered, but using it will be smooth.

Note: Wash really well the oyumaru before melt it again, or it will incorporate every little bit of saop and dirt. My oyumaru is not transparent because of this :D
