Leaky Boot Repair
We've had some rainy weather in Whitehorse lately and the other day I found myself at our local makerspace, YuKonstruct, with wet socks thanks to leaky boot.
I hung up my socks to dry and set about fixing my boots with what we had on hand.
Clean the Boots
Wipe off any dirt and mud with a damp rag or paper towel.
Glue
One boot was starting to come apart at the sole, so I glued it back together.
While the glue was drying I held it together with a clamp.
Silicone Seams
The water seemed to be getting in at the seams, where the pleather joined the sole.
I used clear silicone to fill the gap and smoothed it out with a tool I made from a tongue depressor.
Puddle Proof!
No more wet feet!
I'm not sure how long this repair will last, but for the moment, it is keeping my toes nice and dry.
