Layered Party Dip
This layered dip is a favourite at our house and one of the first things my husband made for me shortly after we met.
The dip is delicious and looks great. It is sure to be a hit at your next shindig!
Ingredients
For this dip you'll need:
- 1 can of refried beans
- guacamole
- 2 advocados
- lime juice
- salt
- cilantro
- garlic powder
- 375g (half a container) plain yogurt
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- bundle of green onions, chopped
- grape or cherry tomatoes, quartered
- 2 jalapenos, chopped
- cheddar cheese, grated
- taco seasoning
- cilantro
- chili powder
- cumin
- garlic powder
- onion powder
Guacamole
You can either buy guacamole or make your own.
Our recipe for guacamole is to combine 2 avocados with the juice of 1 lime, a pinch of salt, a pinch of cilantro and a dash of garlic powder.
If the avocados are not very ripe, we add a few grape tomatoes, finely chopped, for some extra acidity.
Yogurt Layer
The yogurt layer is quite a good dip on it's own! We often make it to go with nachos.
Stir together the plain yogurt, mayonnaise and the seasoning spices.
You can either use a package of pre-made taco seasoning, or combine the following spices:
- ¼ tsp cilantro
- 1 tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp cumin
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp onion powder
Assembling the Layers
Assemble your layered dip in a large glass bowl or dish.
Start by spreading the refried beans in an even layer on the bottom of the dish.
Add a layer of guacamole followed by a layer of the yogurt dip.
Quarter the grape tomatoes with a sharp knife and and spread them over the yogurt.
Add the green onions then cover the top with grated cheddar cheese.
Finish by evenly sprinkling the chopped jalapeno over the top.
Serve with corn chips for a fantastic party snack!
