Hi, it is time and for me to show one of my projects and teach you how to build it. I will show you how to build a speaker using Raspberry Pi, Hifiberry and Volumio. Why would you want to build a similar speaker like me? You would like to build it if you want a quality speaker built by yourself or you want to learn new stuff and make something useful.

Supplies

1xRaspberry Pi 4B

1xHifiBerry Amp2

1x microSd

4x5W Speaker

6xPush Buttons

Selecting Components

When you creating your own speaker, you should be very picky because one wrong component could ruin your speaker. So you should look for a reputable brand of the component maker, who has great reviews and high quality of the product. For this project, I chose the Raspberry Pi 4B microcomputer, because of its small format, and low power consumption. On Raspberry Pi, I installed the Volumio music server because I want to control my speaker from all devices connected tof my network.

Bullding and Creating Bootable Drive

To Set Up system I first needed to connect Raspberry Pi and HiffiBerry though GPIO connection. After I connected them , I needed to write a Volumio on microSD card. For making bootable microSD card I used balenaEtcher. belenaEtcher is small program that creates bootable drives. So I just selected Voumimio image and drive on that I want to write Volumio. And I just clikted Flash and created bootable drive.

After I created a bootable microSD card, I needed to set up the Volumio system to use it. First of all, after I powered up Raspberry Pi, I needed to connect with Raspberry Pi through a WiFi access point that Volumio created. After I connected I went to the Volumio.io website that is running on Raspberry Pi. When I was on the website I started to configure Volumio. First of all, I needed to select the language of the system, I used English. After selecting the language, I needed to create the name of the system. Now when I created my speaker name, I needed to select audio output, so I selected HiFiBerry Amp2 because it is an amplifier that I will use for powering speakers. Inexperience section I'm asked would I rather have the full set of option or just a few, so I selected the full set. And there is just one setting to set up and that is a connection to my local WiFi.So now I fully configured a Volumio music server.

Conneting Buttons With Raspberry Pi

For connectig buttons to GPIO I used configuration that is on picture of Volumio interface. I used this configuration because thrue experimenting I was that default Volumio GPIO combination don't work with HiffiBerry Amp2
