LG HVAC Multi V With Nest (or Other 3rd Party Thermostat)
Step by Step guide to replace LG Thermostat with Nest
Supplies
Connect Dry Contact to Indoor Unit
1. Make sure power supply is off to HVAC indoor unit
2. Connect Dry Contact module to indoor unit.
3. Put switch 4 to ON in INDOOR unit
4. On Dry Contact put VS_SW to VOLT, OPER_SW to 1, TEMP_SW to F
Power Up the Transformer
1. Make sure power supply is completely off for the whole house
2.1 You can either cut into 120V wire and use 3 wire clips to for connections;
!! Make sure that the 120V wire is not the power supply for bathroom fan and/or interior light !!
and for safety put everything is the junction box;
Do NOT place the junction box under the indoor unit pipes! (Condensation on the pipes may drip onto the junction box)
2.2 Use 240V Transformer and connect it to Indoor unit power supply;
Connect Nest (Or Other 3rd Party Thermostat)
Follow the diagram to connect Dry Contact with Nest, and power up Nest with Transformer (the output polarity doesn't matter)
Use 2-wire clips to connect Common (C) and power (Rh) wires
Replace Your LG Thermostat With Nest
Follow the installation instructions in the Nest App
Finish Line (+ Optional Step)
Turn the power supply back on and enjoy!
Optional: to make sure that Nest is properly setup, you can temporary connect your LG Thermostat to Indoor Unit.
Control the A/C with Nest. LG remote should display the system status (cool/fan/heat) and temp, following Nest.
