Knex Fan
Hey guys! Sorry for the big delay on posting. Been quite busy. Anyway, I have made something you guys will like! This here is my knex fan! Off the spot, off my head! Came up with the idea myself! For the most part, you can feel the air on the side of the fan. BE WARNED! There is a distance you have to be for putting your face up to it for you people with LONG HAIR. Keep your distance or at least move your hair behind you. I don't want it getting caught. This fan is extremely fast! Anyway, you can also feel the air with your hand. The closest you can get is at the edge of the build. I guess you can say that the grey connectors are an indication. But back to the build, this requires each type of gear: large, medium, and small. Don't care what colors, just have those readily available. This build takes about 5-10 minutes, depending on how long you take yourself to build it. Also, the pictures to make the parts will have everything in one, meaning you will make the entire thing in one pic. Sorry, but I had made this fan before I put out this Instructable. I didn't want to have to take the entire thing apart, and end up forgetting where something goes (that's a possibility for me). Hope you enjoy!
Supplies
The basic things. I can't really count the total pieces, but I can assure you I know what pieces you'll need for this project.
Rods: red, green, white, blue, yellow
Connectors: Grey, blue, orange, white, yellow, tan clip, small blue-ish clip
Other: 2 silver fast motors, 1 large gear, 1 small gear, 1 medium gear, silver spacers, blue spacers
Gear Assembly
The gears will be held together by the structure in the next step. This is only the gear assembly. They will be "loose", if you will, and won't function correctly until held together. Especially since this has 2 fast motors.
Structure
This is the body of the fan. This is what keeps all the gears straight and in tact. The red rods on the back are for structure balance. The second picture is just another view of the bottom stand. The yellow rods at the top should be behind the yellow gear, btw.
Attaching the Motors
Here is where you will attach the motors. Straight foward. Like I've said before, you will need the fast motors. If you don't have these (which you'll need 2), get them. The green motors are not fast enough.
Attach the Fan
The way the first picture is is how you will order it. You will need to put a metalic clip on the fan. It is not optional. But you will need to add 2 more blue spacers to the front.
Finished!
You now have your own "fan"! See what I did there? Anyway, I hope you enjoyed! I'll see you guys along the rails!
