Kids Friendly Pizza/pasta Sauce
There are many recipes for pizza sauce and I am not claiming to have made a ‘proper’ Italian sauce. This sauce is ‘inspired’ by Italian sauce, but is just an easy, simple solution for pizza or pasta dishes. The sauce is blended to remove ‘bits’ which my kids are quite sensitive to.
What You Need
- fresh basil
- one large onion
- a generous amount og garlic (to taste)
- tomato passata (I used 680 grams)
- olive oil (about 100 ml)
- one vegetable stock cube
- ground black pepper

- olive oil (about 100 ml)

Start With Onions
Chop the onoin and garlic and fry it in the olive oil. I like the onions to brown a bit, but be careful not to brown the garlic too much as it goes bitter.
Add Basil and Passata
When the onion and garlic are light brown, add the basil. Stir it for a minute or so before you add the passata. Bring it to a boil and add the stock and pepper.
Blend It!
This last step is not something you HAVE to do. But my kids frown if they find bits in the sauce, so I blend the sauce at this point.
I make a large-ish batch so I can freeze it in suitable containers.
