K'NeX Race Car: Falcon & Falcon X
Hello everyone,
Here is my favorite car that I built with K'nex. I hope you like it. I named my car as "Falcon" & "Falcon X". The Falcon is for tarmac race, the Falcon X is for more power and dirt. All the pictures are marked with the correct names. Let start building our car!
I used the K'nex box as can be seen in the very last picture of this step, so that you can find the same parts if you want to built one of my Falcons.
Preparing Bumper
Preparing Bumper,
Here are the steps for the bumper:
1) Look at the overall assembly. Pic #1
2) Prepare first connection with yellow connector. Pic #2 & Pic #3
3) Attach green connectors. Pic #4
4) Attach soft blue and rigid dark blue bars. Pic #5 & Pic #6
5) Attach soft orange bar into the bumper. Pic #7 & Pic #8
6) Attach sides of bumper with green and red connectors. Pic #9 & Pic #10 & Pic #11
7) Attach headlights. Pic #12 & Pic #13
Preparing Spoiler

Here are the steps for spoiler:
1) Look at the overall assembly. Pic #1
2) Prepare the arms. Pic #2
3) Connect arms into red bar. Pic #3
4) Attach yellow connectors to red bar. Pic #4
5) Attach another red bar to yellow connectors. Pic #5
Preparing Exhaust

Here are the steps for exhaust:
1) Look at the overall assembly. Pic #1
2) Attach blue rings to dark blue bar. Pic #2
3) Prepare exhaust shape, 4 of them. Pic #3, Pic #4, Pic #5
4) Attach exhaust to dark blue bar symmetrically. Pic #6
5) Attach orange connector into dark blue bar. Pic #7, Pic #8
Preparing Driver Seat

Here are the steps for exhaust:
1) Prepare yellow connectors with different bars. Pic #1
2) Connect the parts into soft orange bar. Bend the bar for arc shape. Pic #2
Preparing Doors
Preparing Doors,
Here are the steps for doors:
1) Connect green and gray parts together. Pic #1
2) Bend the purple bar by connecting small green bars into green connectors. Pic #2
Steering Mechanism
Steering Mechanism,
Here are the steps for steering mechanism:
1) Connect white bars and red connectors together for holding tire in next steps. Pic #1, Pic #2, Pic #3
2) Attach the blue bar in between them with blue and gray ring on it. Pic #1, Pic #2, Pic #3
3) Plug black edges into white bars. Pic #1, Pic #2, Pic #3
Steering Wheel
Steering Wheel,
Here are the steps for steering wheel:
1) Look at the overall assembly. Pic #1
2) Start with the yellow connector and attach the bars as can be seen in the picture. Pic #2
3) Connect the steering wheel to the part. Don't forget to insert small connection into the wheel's hole from tan colored part. Pic #3
4) Bring steering mechanism nearby from previous step. Pic #4
5) Connect both parts by using vertical white bars. Pic #5, Pic #6
Engine and Shaft Connections
Engine and Shaft Connections,
Here are the steps for engine & shaft connections:
1) Prepare dark blue ball shape part (I call it engine) by connecting two circular dark blue connectors. Pic #1
2) Prepare small part with one gray connector and 2 soft blue bars. Pic #1
3) Connect the previous two part into each other. Pic #2
4) Prepare shaft for rear tire connection. Pic #3
5) Connect the shaft into engine with small green bars. Pic #4, Pic #5
6) Attach two blue soft bars into left and right sides of engine. Pic #6, Pic #7
7) Attach single circular dark blue connector into the gray connector. Pic #8
Connecting Doors Near to Engine

Here are the steps for connecting doors near to engine:
1) Look at the overall assembly. Pic #1
2) Bring door part and engine side by side. Pic #2
3) Connect the door into the engine with white bar that is coming from engine, use the green connector at the door part. Pic #3
4) Repeat step #3 for other door. Pic #4
Prepare Dashboard & Attach It to Steering Mechanism

Here are the steps for preparing dashboard and attaching it to steering mechanism:
1) Prepare 3 separate simple parts. Pic #1
2) Connect white bars into yellow connector. Pic #2, Pic #3
3) Bring steering mechanism and dashboard together. Pic #4
4) Connect the dashboard's yellow connector from its edge into the steering mechanism's blue bar from in between gray rings. Pic #5
5) Connect the other edge of dashboard part just behind the steering wheel. Use the hole for inserting small green bar for connection. Pic #6, Pic #7, Pic #8
Connecting Doors Into Front Part of the Car

Here are the steps for connecting doors into front part of the car:
1) Bring the back and front parts of the car we built so far together. Pic #1
2) First connect the soft purple bars of front part from the holes of green connectors of the doors. Pic #2
3) Second connect the green connector's of the doors into the vertical white bars of steering mechanism. Pic #3 & Pic #4
4) See the overall assembly. Pic #5
Attaching Mirrors
Attaching Mirrors,
Here are the steps for attaching mirrors to main body:
1) Plug the gray and blue rings into the soft purple bar coming from front part of the car near dashboard. Pic #1
2) Take the ball socket like connected black part and connect it into the edge of soft purple bar. Pic #2 & Pic #3
3) Repeat the same procedure for the other mirror. Pic #4 & Pic #5
Attaching Driver Seat

Here are the steps for attaching the driving seat:
1) Bring the main body and driving seat side by side. Pic #1
2) Make the main body upside down. Pic #2
3) Plug the soft orange bar of the driver seat by bending them gently into the holes' of green connectors' of doors. Pic #3, Pic #4
4) See the overall assembly. Pic #5
Attaching Spoiler & Exhaust

Here are the steps for attaching spoiler and exhaust:
1) Take the whole body and spoiler put them side by side. Pic #1
2) Connect the white bars of spoiler into the dark blue engine ball in the shape of 'X'. Pic #2
3) Take the whole body and exhaust side by side. Pic #3
4) Connect the exhaust's orange connector into the rear tire shaft from blue bar. Pic #4
Attaching Bumper & Front Tires Into the Car

Here are the steps for attaching the bumper and front tires:
1) Take the whole body and bumper, put them side by side. Pic #1
2) Observe the small green bar coming from dashboard. Pic #2
3) Connect the bumper's yellow connector into the small green bar coming from the back of the dashboard. Pic #3, Pic #4
4) Put the blue ring into the white bar coming from steering mechanism. Pic #5
5) Connect the first front tire into the same bar. Pic #6
6) Seal the white bar that the tire were attached with the gray connector. Pic #6
7) Apply the steps 4,5,6 into the second front tire. Pic #7, Pic #8, Pic #9
8) See the overall assembly. Pic #10
Attaching Rear Tires

Here are the steps for attaching rear tires:
1) Take the larger tires than the front tires. Pic #1
2) Connect the tires into the small green bars coming out from the back shaft of the whole body. Pic #2, Pic #3
Steering
Steering,
Here are the steps for steering the tires:
1) Look at from the same view point of our driver. Pic #1
2) Steer right the steering wheel to turn right. Pic #2
3) Steer center the steering wheel to go straight. Pic #3
4) Steer left the steering wheel to turn left. Pic #4
5) Look closer. Pic #6, Pic #7
6) Look the overall assembly. Pic #8
Adjusting Exhaust Height & Spoiler Angle for Racing Conditions
Adjusting Exhaust Height & Spoiler Angle for Racing Conditions,
There are two conditions of this car. Race condition and normal driving. In the race condition put your spoiler in the up position (Pic #1) in the normal driving mode put your spoiler in down position. (Pic #2)
Additionally for Exhaust height, put your exhaust in the up position (Pic #3) for normal driving mode and put them in down position (Pic #4) in race condition.
Bonus: Falcon X Modification for More Power
Bonus: Falcon X Modification for More Power,
Here are the steps for upgrading your car "Falcon" into "Falcon X" for more power and racing in dirt:
1) Prepare the extra parts. Pic #1
2) Attach the wings to the sides via gray connectors. Pic #2, Pic #3, Pic #4
3) Detach soft blue bars from the engine (dark blue ball shaped part) Pic #5
4) Push the tires towards inside of the rims until the half way of the rim. Pic #6
5) Attach the extra tires into the rims. Pic #7
6) Attach extra antenna near engine. Pic #8, Pic #9
7) Falcon X upgrade completed! Congratulations ! Pic #10, Pic #11
