James Develin's Gym Challenge By: Chidalu
This a design to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by minimalizing the amount movement between each area as well as placing people into their own rooms to work-out as well.
Step 1 : What Is My Approach?
Since COVID-19 guidelines suggest that we stay 6 feet apart and if you go to a public setting you must wear a mask and sanitize before and after leaving. In this gym it is REQUIRED to wear masks all non-mask wearers will be asked to leave the premises. When walking in gym-goers must walk in wearing mask and will be given a change of mask, small bottle and hand sanitizers, and Lysol wipes.
Step 2: Why Is the Swimming Area Closed-off?
Well I decided that the swimming area should not be as open as it should be because you would want to keep the bacteria of COVID-19 in one area and be able to either vent it out of the area or disinfect the area. So I made sure that in each closed off setting for the swimming area has a vent. As well as there connecters between all three buildings to mininlize the movement between them.
Step 3 : Why the Plastic Shields?
Well just in case someone was coughing must of the bacteria will end up on the shields which will all be wiped away with the Lysol wipes in each sector. As well as adding cones to prevent people from coming into close contact with others.
Step : 4 Why Is There Private Rooms?
I made private rooms with vents in them to minimize the spread of COVID-19 through the air as well as making a space to lounge but with its own wall.
Step : 5 Why Did I Not Create Another Room for Each Basketball Court?
Well I knew that it would be a bit harder for me to make a basketball court and prevent COVID-19 at the same time so while playing basketball all gym-goers MUST wear a mask at all times except to drink water. The gym-goers especially the ones in the basketball court must follow strict orders to prevent the spread.
