Jaipur Theme Wall From Tripolia Bazar
We visited Jaipur around 5 years back. Enjoyed the trip very much. There is an area called the Tripolia bazar that is the main bazaar area created by King Sawai Raja Jai Singh who created the city on his name. We totally loved how the city was decorated on Jaipur pink with filigree made with white paint. So when we were getting our home painted we kept a wall for the theme of Jaipur to recreate and keep with us.
Supplies
The painting service did a great job making the base coat of paint on the wall. It was Jaipur pink that they used.
For the template I went to Powerpoint and made a template of how the design will look.
We just needed white acrylic paint. 2 brushes. One thick flat brush and one thin brush to make the lines. Other than that we needed a long scale. For that I used a long wooden baton with markings as required.
Started with marking the wall with pencil and the baton. When I am sure that the markings are perpendicular and nothing unusual, I went back with acrylic paint and started filling the pencil lines. First with the thick brush as borders and then with the thin brush marking the inner border.
Completed the bottom layers with the same template format. Just one of the row of boxes have inward rounded corner in the inner thin box. Next step will be the top box which has arches inside.
For the arches in the top row of boxes I used a newspaper, folded in half and cut out the arch. That solved the issue of irregularity of both side of the arches. Stuck them with scotch tape and drew the arches. Now the tough part is done and I just nave to go back and draw the arch with steady hand. Done! Clean up required just to erase out the residual pencil marks.
