Jailbreak Any IDevice IOS 6.0 - 6.1.2

On February 4, 2013, the evad3rs released a jailbreak tool that will jailbreak any iDevice iOS 6.0 - 6.1.2(current) Jail breaking is nothing more than the process of giving the user root access to the file system on a device. The common jailbreak process for modern iDevices allows unsigned third party apps to run without apple breathing down your neck. This unlocks a very large potential here for apps, tweaks, themes, etc. (There are many apps and such out there, as well as their respective articles belonging to them.) Using the jailbreak tool evasi0n is quick and easy, but be warned, as the jailbreak is relatively new, some common jailbreak apps will not work with iOS 6.1 with that being said, let's continue

Backup Your Device!

I cannot stress this enough! A jailbreak is an uncommon process which has no guarantee to work perfectly. BACK UP YOUR DEVICE in the case that the jailbreak doesn't work, you can always restore back to this backup.

AT NO GIVEN TIME WILL A JAILBREAK PROCESS PUT YOUR DEVICE IN A 'BRICKED STATE' YOU CAN ALWAYS RESTORE TO UN-JAILBREAK.
If at any time your device becomes entirely unresponsive, it is safe to force shutdown ( hold the lock and home buttons together for ten seconds)

If your device is already jailbroken, there are a number of ways to backup your settings, tweaks, themes, etc. One I recommend is pkgbackup. While it costs $10, it will be worth it in the end (restoring everything manually is a pain in the ---) There are of course other free tools, but I recommend pkgbackup. If you had install0us before it went under, you likely still have appsync for your iOS version. If not, you'll have to grab it from another repo, as Hackulous is no longer in service. (A simple google search can turn up several repos which will provide appsync) I also recommend writing down your list of installed apps, tweaks, themes and such so in the case that your backup method fails, you don't have to start from scratch. After this, plug in to iTunes and sync your device. You are ready to update and jailbreak.

If you aren't already jailbroken, the backup process is simple, plug into iTunes, sync, and update.

After you feel that you have sufficiently backed up your device and are updated to iOS 6.0 - 6.1, you are ready for the next step.

As a side note, if you are worried about not liking the new iOS or compatibility issues, I recommend backing up your shsh blobs using tinyumbrella

Plug your device in, ensuring it is powered on, run evasion, and click 'jailbreak' the whole process will take about 5 minutes, and your device will restart several times. Following on-screen prompts, after your device has finished its process, unlock it, go to the latest page, and click the 'Jailbreak' app ONCE. Your screen will open an app window, which will 'crash' at this point, I believe your device restarts. Afterwards, unlock your device again, and find the Cydia app, click it, and allow it to initialize the filesystem. It will close when it is finished. Tada! You have successfully told apple to bite the big one. You can sync any apps back onto the device that you backed up if they aren't there, if you used pkgbackup, restore your purchase, open it up, click view restore and select what you want to restore (from my experience, move2unlock, ColorKeyboardHD don't work, and if you were on 5.1.1, don't restore your Rocky Racoon Unteher) (If you are new to jail breaking, I recommend looking up intro tutorials or top ten recommended jailbreak apps/tweaks) If you have any issues, questions, or comments, throw them at me below.
