Instructions on Downloading a Map in Minecraft.
Hello everyone. To anybody who is new to the popular video game Minecraft, these are instructions on how to download a maps from these two website:
These instructions will help you gain a much better gameplay experience as you give yourself an opportunity to explore these vast builds, which many Minecraft players worked hard building these masterpieces.
Supplies
Computer (64 bit Windows 8 or newer)
The minimum requirements:
- CPU: Intel Core i3 3210 | AMD A8 7600 APU or equivalent
- RAM: 4 GB RAM
- HDD: 180 MB to 1 GB available space
- GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4000 or AMD Radeon R5 series | NVIDIA GeForce 400 Series or AMD Radeon HD 7000 series
- Screen Resolution: 1024 x 768 or better
- Network: Broadband Internet connection

128 or greater GB Flash drive (Optional)
Download the Map
Be mindful that some of these large maps, mostly city builds, take up 5 to 10 GB. So if you want to save up storage on your computer, go to Step 5 listed below.
Go to the website https://www.minecraftmaps.com/. The website will have an open selection of maps involving parkour, survival, adventure, puzzles and large builds involving cities or ships. Once you have selected your map, click Download Map. If you want to search for more maps you can use another website: https://www.planetminecraft.com/projects/. Once you get there, use the search filters and select downloadable. This will give you access to maps that you will be able to download. Once you have selected your map, click Download Schematic.
Folder
Go to file explorer and open the downloads tab. Once you are there, take the folder of the map to the desktop. Right click on the folder and click Extract All.
Open the folder and see if it as folders such as:
- advancements
- data
- datapacks
- DIM1
- DIM-1
- entities
- generated
- playdata
- poi
- region
If the folder has all of these folders listed, leave them alone. If it does not, the map will not work.
Run
Go to the desktop search bar and type Run. Run command is used to open an application or document. Once you open the Run app, type this in the textbox: %appdata% and click OK. Doing this will result in the Roaming folder being open.
Minecraft Saves Folder
On the roaming folder, you will see a folder that says: .minecraft
Once you open that there will be a saves folder. This is where you will drag the map folder into the saves folder. Then launch Minecraft and the map will show up on the "Select World" menu.
Flash Drive Storage (Optional)
Right click the folder of the map you downloaded and copy. In file explorer, go to the Flashdrive and paste it.
