Improved SharkBite Extractor Tool

IMG_2761.JPG

The standard SharkBite extractor tool (especially the 1/2") is fairly difficult to use; well, unless you have tiny AND very strong fingers. This is my improved design, in both 1/2" and 3/4" (the most common sizes that DIY homeowners will come across.) (All pictures shown are of the 1/2" size.)

(Standard tool for reference.)

As always: Modeled in Autodesk Fusion 360, sliced in Cura, and printed on Creality CR-6SE.

Supplies

3D printer is all you'll need. I printed with standard PLA at 100% infill, and did have difficulty printing them flat, so stood them on edge and had to use supports, which requires a bit of cleanup, but the areas your fingers rest on are nice and smooth.

See images above for installing the tool on a pipe (PEX shown), then squeeze against the fitting as normal to remove the fitting from the pipe. (The fitting shown is just a cap or plug to terminate a line. More common is having an elbow, tee fitting, coupler, or adapter to a threaded connection.)
