Ice Pebble Lights

Hi,

I had really hope for a nice snowy day to do this instructable but since its showing no sign of doing so here in Scotland I thought I would go ahead and share it now.

In this instructable I am going to show you how to make a really nice temporary outdoor illuminated feature.

Materials

Balloons. you can use any size as long as you can fit them in your freezer. as you can see i have used a big fun balloon.

Water (Obv)

Food colouring. optional, if you want to make the pebbles different colours.

Cheap battery powered lights

Clingfilm

tape

Tools

power drill

dish towel

Freezer

Much like making a water balloon fill up the balloon over a tap. be carefull not to over fill them so the burst as your carrying them.

If you wish you can add a few drops of food colouring into the balloon before you fill it with water.

once you have the desired amount of balloons put them in the freezer and leave them over night

While your balloons are freezing start to cover your lights in clingfilm.

I wrapped them up and taped the bottom to secure it.

Also cover the battery pack.

This is mainly to stop water getting to the main components

Once your balloons have frozen remove the rubber. use the dish cloth to hold them so you dont freeze your fingers. You also might want to do this over the sink just in case of any unfrozen pockets of water.

Once you have them out of the balloons use your drill to drill a hole on the flattest surface of your ice pebble. Again you might want to do this over a sink and drilling down the way in case there are any water pockets in the ice, doing it this way stops it from pouring out onto your drill but as always BE CAREFUL!

Despite the photo (better light) you may want to move your pebbles to the desired location before wiring them up.

simply incert a light into each pebble and turn them over (i used two lights for the big pebble)

And thats it!

You now have a lovely temporary garden decoration
