Ice Cubed Salad...???
I like to enjoy a healthy fruit smoothie in the morning. This is a "sweet" way to get your greens in. This is a short cut to eating a salad or getting your greens in.
It can be difficult to get all the stuff you want crammed into the blender cup. Other times, the bag of greens goes bad before you can finish it. The solution… make your greens into ice cubes.
For this Instructable, it is about half 3/4 lb of greens. It made 24 ice cubes. So if I am doing my math right, about .5oz of greens per ice cube.
Let's get started...
Supplies
Ice Cube Trays
Collard Greens, Kale, Spinach and / or other greens
Water
Ninja blender (or other blender)
Blend
Here’s where you whip everything up. (If you nay nay, that’s up to you).
Pack the Ninja pitcher with greens.
Add about 8oz of water.
Blend on pulse.
You may to take the blender cup off, knock the greens down towards the blades, and go again.
This may need to be repeated a few times.
Pour Into the Ice Cube Trays
If you have the lid for drinking, I found it to be easier to pour out of that.
Fill each ice cube compartment to the top. (I obviously over filled some, but it's no worries)
After they are all filled, place in the freezer.
Leave overnight or until completely frozen.
Once They Are Frozen...
Take them out of the freezer.
You may need to run hot water on the bottom of the tray for about 5-10 seconds help them come out easier.
Put them in a zip lock bag and store in the freezer.
I add one or two to a smoothie in the morning with almond milk and fruit.
This is a great way to get your greens without having to eat a salad. And it's much more concentrated.
