This Instructable is in memory of a departed soul. Here is the story.

THE RAGING TONERS

Back in the days before the Pandemic, my son and his friends formed a Karaoke Group they named The Raging Toners. An honorary member of this group passed away and my son asked me if I could add to this painting of the group I did back in 2015. He wanted his friend's image painted ethereally in the upper right corner which I did. Then he mentioned he wanted to present it to the bar in which they used to sing. The painting needed a frame.

MATERIALS

scrap hardwoods.jpg

A neighbor of mine was closing his woodshop and gave me lots of scrap hardwood lumber. In these scraps were pieces of oak and a piece of walnut which had a groove already in them. A grove the right thickness to fit the edges of the painting.

THE BOARDS WERE TOO SHORT

The boards were not long enough to make a continuous frame so I improvised.

I NEVER HAVE PROBLEMS

I ONLY HAVE CHALLENGES!

I connected the frame together with pieces of walnut. For a bit of pizazz, I made two keystones for the top and bottom connections and regular-sized pieces for the sides.

GLUE AND BAMBOO SKEWERS

I glued all the pieces and secured all the corners with bamboo skewers.

FINISHED WITH TUNG OIL

I used Tung Oil to finish the frame.

THE FRAMED PAINTING IS DONE, BUT ...

I gave the painting to my son and he now waits for the bar to open when it is safe to do so.
