How to Make a Paper Wallet

With a few supplies and time, you can easily create a paper wallet that accommodates up to 6 cards and a wad of money.  You will need the following items:

- 2 pieces of 8.5 x 11 inch paper (this may be substituted for any colored paper as long as it keeps the same dimensions)
- 1 pair of scissors (or cutting tool)
- 1 stapler (with staples)
- 1 ruler 
- 1 pencil, pen ,or marker
- 1 roll of tape

Position one of the pieces of paper facing landscape in front of you. Afterwards, fold the paper in half away from your body.

Take your ruler and line it up vertically on the edge of the left-hand side of the paper. Using the body of the ruler, fold the paper(both layers) over so that a flap is facing inwards. Repeat this on the right-hand side.

Note: Most rulers should have the same width, but if you have an abnormal ruler, you should fold in the sides by 3 cm (the width of most rulers including mine).

When you have completed the last step, you should have something looking similar to one of the pieces of folded paper in the first picture. Using the last piece of paper, create another. Once you have the second folded piece, unfold the flaps outwards so that the paper looks like the one in the second image.

Take the paper with the flaps you unfolded and fold it in half away from your body. Remember to have the paper positioned as landscape.

Take the smaller piece of paper and tuck it into the larger piece of paper. Make sure the flaps of the smaller piece of paper are tucked inside as well. Align both pieces of paper so that the smaller piece sits at the bottom edge of the large piece. You must absolutely make sure that both the bottom edges of the pieces of paper are the closed side. 

When you are done, check once again. In this picture, the top side of the papers are open (you can tuck cards and cash in them). The bottom side of the papers are not open. 

Take your ruler and pencil. Mark 1 inch inwards from the sides of both flaps and 1.25 inches inwards from the bottom(closed side of the wallet).  Use the stapler and staple vertically along those marks.

Take your roll of tape and cut out a piece of tape slightly larger than the bottom of the wallet. Put it halfway off the bottom edge and crease the excess tape on to the other side of the wallet. You can check to see if you've done this correctly by checking for any holes in the third pocket in(relative to the one in front in the first picture).

Fold the entire thing in half so that the pockets are on the inside. Crease until you are comfortable with the wallet's structure.

Congratulations! Your new wallet is complete and is something you can show to your peers. You can now begin filing it up as you please.
