There is a lot more to turning on a welder than most people think. The best place to start is by knowing what you are welding with, this all depends on what metal your using, whether its thick or not. The thicker the metal the more you adjust your settings. Next, flip on the on switch, then turn on the gas. now you should be ready for step two.

Setting Up to Weld

Now is when you grab your gas tip for your gun and screw it on finger tight, never take a pliers to the gas tip it will scratch the outer covering. once your gas tip is hooked up you then need to hook your ground up, this is very important in the actual welding process as this allows you to be able to weld, make sure your ground is hook up close to the piece your welding with.

PPE(personal Protective Equipment)

Making sure you are protected is very important. PPE includes a slandered welding helmet, with steal toe boots, welding gloves, safety glasses, and also a welding jacket so you and start your cloths on fire. with this equipment you should have no trouble at all and should be ready to weld.

Making yourself comfortable is super important when welding. the more comfortable you are the easier it is to weld and also the better your weld will be. there are probably hundreds of welding positions out there, it also all depends on what your welding. for example lets say i'm welding a T-joint over my head, this is called overhead welding and in my opinion its easiest to lay and the floor and weld it.

Here is what its all about the actual process of welding, the best way to learn about how to weld is by actually doing it yourself. the best way to explain this process is buy making sure you keep the same speed and and of the gun throughout the entire weld this is harder than it sounds but with practice anyone can do it.

Weld Examination

This is the last part of the how to and its were you look at the weld you just did and make sure it looks good and holds what you want together. You should look for under cut or porosity in the weld, and if there is nothing wrong with it your good to go.
