How to Stay Motivated
Imagine waking up every morning with a list of items to accomplish, and managing to get each item on that list done by the end of the day. Imagine doing this each and every day and never missing a workout, or an assignment, or even staying caught up on laundry. Just imagine what it would be like to accomplish each and every goal wanted to achieve. With goal writing, constant work, and a set routine, each individual is able to get motivated and keep that motivation.
Motivation is defined as: “the general desire or willingness of someone to do something.” Being able to get motivated is pretty easy, but staying motivated each and every day is the hard part. Many individuals find themselves getting “burnt out” and eventually give up what they are working towards. Whether it be a short-term goal, like reading a full book, or it is a long-term goal like purchasing a home; this is the ultimate guide to building up motivation and keeping it.

Write Out Your Goals
To start the journey towards constant motivation, we first have to decide what our goals are and write them down. Having written accountability keeps people on track. When first starting to work towards motivation, it’s beneficial to start with smaller goals, like only eating out twice a month or a daily to-do list. Once the specific goals have been decided, write them down. There can be multiple goals to work towards, and it’s actually more rewarding to accomplish more than one goal, which in the long-term motivates individuals even more.
Place Your Goals Where They Will Be Seen
Next, put the list of goals where they will be seen every day. For example, hang it on the mirror in the bathroom so it is noticed right away in the mornings while getting ready. This will be a reminder for exactly what needs to be done each day. Seeing a list every day is used for accountability; it’s harder to procrastinate something the more it is seen.
Routine!
Then, create a routine and stick to it. Wake up at the same time every day and get what needs to be done first! If the goal is to workout, do it right away in the morning. Not only does it feel rewarding after completing an item on the list, but by doing it right away in the morning creates for a more productive day. The feeling of satisfaction and reward will be the motivation you need to stay motivated throughout the day. But be careful, don’t put off the list. If there are thoughts about doing it later, there’s a higher chance it won’t ever get done.
Get Ready for the Day
Next, get ready for the day. Get out of bed at the same time each day and actually get put together. Take a shower, get dressed, eat breakfast, and start the day off with a good beginning. Just like stated before, the sooner something is accomplished, the more motivation there is. Simply getting ready each day adds motivation even though it might not be a goal listed.
Reward Yourself
Lastly, create some form of reward. When a goal is reached, find a form of reward that won’t alter the motivation that has been built up. Most times, when a goal is reached, it is enough of a reward to create more motivation for working towards other goals. But, it is still beneficial to be rewarded. Post about the accomplishment for others to see and be congratulated, or buy yourself something that you have been wanting.
Congrats! You Have Motivation
Overall, it is almost guaranteed to have constant motivation when goals are written out, a routine is set, and there are rewards. Always remember that to reach a goal, it takes dedication and constant work. Achieving goals does not just happen overnight, so knowing how to stay motivated is so important.
