How to Sculpt Flowers
Here's an easy tutorial on how to sculp two styles of flowers using air dry clay!
Supplies
- Nara Air-Dry Clay (though any type of air dry clay would work fine)
- A small cup of water
- Basic sculpting tools (optional)
Flower Style 1
Make 3 equally sized spheres -- can be any size based on preference, but I personally form them small.
STEP 2: Flatten the spheres (using your finger) into imperfect oval (petal-like) shapes.
STEP 3: Roll each of them -- such as shown in the following image.
STEP 4: Stick the 3 pieces together. Using water to mold the pieces together more securely works if it keeps falling apart.
STEP 5: Repeat Step 1 and Step 2 -- Rolling equally sized spheres and flattening them into petal-like shapes. (till you make about 13 “petals)
STEP 6: Attach the petals onto the previous creation. Repeat this until you achieve your target size and/or look. Personally, I made 13 petals and stuck them to the base in an alternating method in order to achieve depth and to avoid the “petals” from simply overlapping one another -- however, one could add more or less.
Flower Style 2
STEP 1: For this flower, also make 3 equally sized spheres -- can be any size based on preference, but I personally form them small.
STEP 2: Flatten the spheres (using your finger) into imperfect oval (petal-like) shapes.
STEP 3: Roll each of them -- such as shown in the following image.
STEP 4: Repeat Step 1 and Step 2 3x -- Rolling equally sized spheres and flattening them into petal-like shapes.
STEP 5: Attach three “petals” into each of the rolls (individually) made in step 3. (as shown in the image)
STEP 6: Attach the three individual creations together -- using water to more securely mold them together.
STEP 6: Repeat Step 1 and Step 2 -- Rolling equally sized spheres and flattening them into petal-like shapes. Repeat this till you have about 7 “petals” -- however you can always add more or less depending on your desired finished product.
STEP 7: Attach the petals onto the previous creation. Repeat this until you achieve your target size and/or look.
