I made this instructable with scrap wood from my garage and an old pen. I am entering this in the reusable contest, so PLEASE VOTE!!

I started this instructable because I noticed there is almost nothing on the internet on how to make the Golden Gun from James Bond. There are some 3-D designs if you have a 3-D printer, but I do not. So I gave it a go. I really didn't work terribly hard on the detail, I'm sure anyone could give more time and make it more professional, but I wanted it to be simple and not too daunting. Hope you enjoy.

Supplies

Materials:

I used 1 inch wide pine wood for the top piece of the gun and 3/4 inch wide pine for the handle.

1- 1 inch wide pine wood

1- 3/4 inch wide pine wood

1 inch wide velcro

1 cap style ink pen

Some paint that will stick to plastic( I used a yellow krylon spray paint that said it would stick to plastic)

Gold spray paint

Tools:

Saw for cutting wood

Wrasp for wood

Sandpaper

Electric Drill

Super Glue or Elmers Glue (each should do the trick)

pencil and measuring tape or stick

Cutting the Wood Pieces

I cut the top wooden piece out with the saw to these dimensions(2 3/4" x 1 3/16" x 1"). Just lightly sand it so it doesn't have any rough edges. Next cut the handle to these dimensions(3 1/4" x 1 3/4" x 3/4"). After that, use the wood wrasp to shave all 4 sides of the piece so it has a beveled look. I also cut the top of the handle so it would be slightly tilted in relation to the rest of the gun(refer to the cover photo for reference). (Optional) I also gave the handle some slight grooves by using the saw.

Drilling the Hole for the Pen

I'm not going to give you the size of the drill bit I used because it depends on the pen you use. drill a hole in the top piece so your pen will fit snugly into it.

Apply the Velcro

I used 1 inch wide velcro with an adhesive back to stick to the wood. You can use glue if yours doesn't have adhesive. Important; use the hook velcro, it has a better look.

Glue the Pieces Together

Using Elmers glue, glue the pieces together as shown in the photos. You will notice I didn't show how to make the small wooden pieces below the pen. I am sorry but I am leaving that up to your creative genius. just carve something that looks right. Use images online for inspiration! Glue the pen and all the pieces together. You may have to do it in steps over a day or two as Elmers does not dry fast.

Add the Trigger

I just used a scrap piece of metal I had laying around. I also used super glue as it would give it a stronger bond.

Priming the Gun (Nice Pun, Eh?)

Again, I used a spray paint that would bond to plastic as a primer. Spray the whole object to get the wood primed and ready for the gold.

Golden Time!

Give the gun several coats over the course of about 25 minutes. That way you don't get the paint to run. You will also have to let it dry to the touch and then roll it over so you can paint the parts covered.
