How to Make a Tepee Campfire

image.jpeg
This Instructable is going to show you how to make an easy fire for camping. I hope you like it!

Collect Your Materials

You will need a lot of small twigs, several sticks of various sizes, and a few logs for when it really gets going. You will also need newspaper and/or wood chips and flakes that you can find in the middle of decaying logs for kindling. Make sure all of your materials are completely dry. Oh, and you'll need a lighter or matches.

Newspaper or Wood Flakes

If newspaper, crumple it up into loose balls, then put 5-10 in the middle of the area you want your fire to go. If wood flakes, put a pile of it in the middle of your area.

Position Twigs

Lean the twigs up against the kindling, positioning them in a triangle, or tepee, formation.

Add Bigger Sticks

Now you need to add slightly bigger sticks, leaning them up against the tepee. This takes a lot of patience, so try not to get too frustrated if it comes crashing down.

Light It Up!

When ready to use, light the newspaper on fire. The rest of it will catch and you can keep adding bigger and bigger pieces of wood as you go.

You're Done!
