How to Make a Slide Whistle

I am teaching you how to make a functioning slide whistle. A slide whistle is a type of whistle that when you slide a ride up, it makes a higher pitch. We pull it down. It makes a lower pitch.

Supplies

PVC pipe

Dowel the same size as the inner of PVC pipe

Corks

hacksaw

nail

duck tape


Notch the Pipe

Cut a 45 degree notch in the pipe one corks width in as shown

Make the Slide

You de not need to yours duck tape is your dowel fits the pipe perfectly.Rip or cut the duck tape into a 2 inch section then fold in half. cut into a circle a little bigger than the inside of the pipe use the nail to attach the duck tape to the end of the dowel.

Make the Fipple

Cut about 1/3 of of the cork. If your whistle is not working, it is probably because you have too little or too little taken off of the fipple. It will take some trial and error before your whistle works.

Assembly

Take the fipple and insert it to the end of the tube with the notch make sure the side that is cut on the cork is facing towards the notch. Now slide the end with a duct tape through the other end of the pipe not all the way now when you slide the rod up and down the pipe, it will make different sounds. Now hear is the sound
