How to Make a Patrick Star Halloween Costume

Patrick Star.jpg

For Halloween this year, I didn't want to go out and spend twenty or thirty dollars on a something that I only would wear just because I needed a costume. So I decided to make an easy and awesome costume for myself. Personally, I am a big fan of the show and was very excited to make a costume like this. Enjoy!

Supplies

  • Pink Shirt
  • Bright Green Shorts
  • Purple Paper
  • Scissors
  • All-Purpose Adhesive (Glue)
  • Pen or Pencil

Cut Out Purple Flowers

If you have watched Spongebob Squarepants, you have probably noticed the flowers on Patrick's shorts. Making those is the first step to becoming Patrick Star. I made a few differing sized flowers that were between four to six inches length wise.

1. Draw the flower on the purple paper with any sort of pen or pencil. I'd highly recommend looking at a picture of Patrick's shorts while doing so to make it as accurate as possible. Don't be afraid to make a few until you are happy.

2. Once you have a flower you are happy with, cut it out! You can then use it to trace other ones to keep a consistent shape.

3. Making some half flowers to put at the very top or bottom of your shorts won't hurt as well!

The amount of flowers you will make is dependent on your shorts. Don't forget to use the picture of my final product above as a reference.

Attaching the Flowers

Be aware of how much glue you are applying to your shorts! Too much or too little can both be bad. I typically put a little bit everywhere with a slightly larger amount on the center.

1. Start by spreading your shorts out on a flat surface. Using a singular flower you just cut out, find a place where you think it looks nice.

2. Once you have found a location on the shorts you are happy with, grab your glue and attach it.

3. Attach as many flowers as you would like!

If you are a person of specifics, then I would place a flower every four to five inches.

Once you have completed this step, congratulations! You have completed your Patrick Star costume.
