How to Make Sock Puppets
Making sock puppets are an easy and relatively cheap way to have fun even when it's raining and you can't go outside.
Or to keep children entertained while you get something done around the house. they also make good gifts for younger children!
And you don't need any fancy tools. and you can make them with almost anything!
Supplies
- an old sock
- google eyes
- balls of styrofoam
- pipe cleaner
- string
- sharpie
- craft glue or hot glue school glue or even tape
- if you find anything else that would work you can use that too!
Planing the Puppet
decide what your sock puppet will look like, and gather your materials. for eyes you could use google eyes or foam balls with little pupils drawn on them. and if you want you could make a tongue out of paper. you also can make hair by gluing a wad of string on the puppet's head. try to be creative!
Marking
slide your sock onto your hand and figure out how it will sit on your hand. once you have it on your hand like a puppet, with a sharpie, mark where you will put the eyes, hair, and anything else you want to add.
Glue or Tape It
you can now take the sock puppet off your hand if you want. now start gluing your sock puppets eyes, tongue, nose, hair, etc, to his face on the spots you marked.
Let It Dry
Let it dry overnight (unless you are using a quick dry glue such as hot glue.) once it's done drying rub its face to see if it is fully dry.
Play!
have fun with your new puppet you can now put on a puppet show or you can play a different way!
