How to Make Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
My Dad's favourite cookies are Oatmeal Raisin cookies and so for his birthday we always make a batch. These are easy to make and you can create a dozen and a half in a short period of time. If baking is your thing or not, give these a try!!
Supplies
Things you will need:
- Pan
- Cookie tray x2
- Measuring cups
- Spatula
- Scooper
- Oven mitts
- Tea spoons
Ingredients:
- 1 cup -- All-purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon -- Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon -- Baking soda
- 4 tablespoon -- Unsalted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon -- Ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cup -- Brown sugar
- 1/2 cup -- Sugar
- 1/2 cup -- Vegetable oil
- One egg and one yolk
- 1 teaspoon -- Vanilla extract
- 3 cups -- Oats
- 1/2 cup -- Raisins
-- Butter & Oven --
Browning butter --
You'll need the pan and your stove. Take 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter and brown it by melting and stirring it vigorously.
Pre-heat oven --
Set your oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
-- Sugar, Salt, Baking Soda & Brown Sugar --
Sugar --
Add a 1/2 cups of sugar and put it in a bowl (not the one with the butter).
Salt --
Add 3/4 teaspoon salt into the bowl.
Baking soda --
Add a 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Brown sugar --
Add 3/4 cup brown sugar and add it to the bowl.
Stir all ingredients together in bowl.
-- Eggs, Vegetable Oil & Vanilla Extract --
Egg --
Crack one egg and add it to the bowl with the melted butter. For the yolk, you'll need to use the shell and move the egg from one part of the shell to the other over a separate bowl to get all the white out. After you have only the yolk, add it to your bowl. You may throw out the left over egg white.
Vegetable oil --
Add 1/2 cup vegetable oil into the bowl.
Vanilla extract --
Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract into the bowl.
Mix --
Mix with a spoon, or spatula or mixer until all blended.
-- Flour --
Flour --
Get 1 cup flour and put it in a separate bowl.
Cinnamon --
Add 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon to the flour bowl.
Add and Mix --
Add the "flour bowl" to the rest and mix.
-- Oats & Raisin --
Oats --
Add 3 cups oats into the bowl.
Raisins --
Add 1/2 cup raisins into the bowl.
Mix --
Mix all ingredients together until well blended.
-- Baking --
Baking --
Use two tablespoons to scoop out ball size cookies. Use one spoon to create a ball and the other to scrape dough onto cookie sheet. Press down dough ball gently to make shape of cookie. Put your cookies on two different cookie trays (each should fit about 9 cookies).
Then put trays in the heated oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Take out and place on trivet to cool for 2 minutes before eating.
