How to Make Eggs in a Basket
In this instructable, I am going to teach you how to make eggs in a basket (also known as eggs in a hole).
It’s a simple recipe and great for beginners and will take around 1-2 minutes to make. So let’s begin.
Supplies
These are the Ingredients you will need.
1 slice of bread (any bread will work)
1 tbsp butter, vegetable/olive oil, or nonstick spray. (up to you.)
1 egg
salt and ground black pepper, for taste
The Element
heat up the element to medium, once heated, turn the element down to single low. Then put the frying pan on the element if you haven’t already.
Preparing the Bread
press a small biscuit cutter or juice jar into the bread slice. Twist slightly to cut a circle in the center of the bread. A small glass cup can also work. After cut, remove the cut-out circle. Carefully place the bread and cut circle into the pan. Be careful not to touch the bottom of the pan.
Adding the Egg
Crack the egg into the cut-out hole. If you haven’t cracked an egg before, tap the side of the egg on the edge of the pan until you see a small crack, then use that opening and pull the egg in half. If you're not comfortable with using the edge of the pan a butter knife is also a good tool. It's the same situation as the pan, tap the edge of the knife against the egg until you see a crack.
Cooking the Basket
When the bread is toasted on the bottom side. This will take about 1 minute, flip the bread over and allow it to toast on the other side. Once done, using a spatula move the bread onto a plate.
Optional Step
Now add salt and pepper. For taste.
Serve
Last but not least, serve and enjoy!
