How to Make Duct Tape Labels and Decals.
I wanted to make a good-looking, non-permanent way of marking where I keep all my things. Using duct tape we can make a lasting label that sticks to almost every surface and looks neat too.
What You'll Need
This project isn't too hard to make, all you need is
- Thick Wax Paper (thick wax paper makes it easier to peel the duct tape off of it, however, it's still possible to do the project with normal wax paper)
- Duct Taper (colored looks better, but all types will work)
- Xacto Knife
- A Cutting Surface
- Scissors
- A Template (I made mine in Google Docs)

Getting Started
Because I was making a label, I decided to go to Google Docs and print off a document with a rounded rectangle and the letters I was using. When doing this try to keep the size of your image small enough so it can be covered by one piece of duct tape, however, if you can't it's not a problem, there will just be a seam in the final product. Try your best to make sure there is a clear outline for the template, if there isn't, run over the outline with a dark pen to make it easier in upcoming steps.
When cutting your template out, no need to cut directly on the line, by cutting around the piece you leave yourself room to tape it to the wax paper.

Getting the Pieces Ready
Cut out a slightly larger piece of wax paper than your templates and tape the templates on upside-down. We tape them this way because when cut out they will be oriented correctly.
Choosing Colors
Decide which colors you want for each of your templates and apply that duct tape to the side of the wax paper without the label. If your template requires more than one piece of tape, apply it with a small overlap on the first piece.
Finishing Each Piece
If the template isn't too intricate, you can use scissors for this step (as I did with the rectangle), however, for templates such as letters, I would recommend going over it with an Xacto or any hobby knife.
Applying the Smaller Parts
Using a fingernail or your hobby knife, peel off the wax paper from the smaller pieces, and apply them too the larger one.
Adding Pizazz
For this label, I decided to add some fun looking borders just for aesthetic purposes. To do this I applied some patterned duct tape to the front and then snipped off the excess.
You're Done!
Congratulations! You've finished your piece. Now all you need to do is peel off the wax paper from the bottom and stick it wherever you like. I hope you found this Instructable useful and enjoyable!
