Gather Your Materials
- 1 1/3 Cups of Flour
- 1/4 Teaspoon Baking Soda
- 2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
- 3/4 Cup of Cocoa Powder
- 1/8 Teaspoon of Salt
- 3 Tablespoons of Butter (Softened)
- 1 1/2 Cups White Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 3/4 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
- 1 Cup of Milk
- A Measuring Cup, 2 Muffin Tins, 16 Cupcake/Muffin Liners, 2 Bowls, and Tablespoon and Teaspoon Amount Measurers
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F before you begin.
Mix Your Dryer Ingredients Together
Take one of your bowls and mix together your baking powder, cocoa powder, salt, flour, and baking soda into it.
Mix Together Your Remaining "Wet" Ingredients
Once mixing your dry ingredients together, you can set that bowl to the side and grab your second bowl. You're going to take your remaining "wet" ingredients including your milk, sugar, butter, vanilla extract, and eggs and then mix them together into that second bowl. (You might want to use a beater or electric whisk for this instead of a spoon to mix it.)
Mix It All Together
After you're done mixing all of your wet ingredients together, you can get the first bowl with all of your dry ingredients in it and SLOWLY and NOT ALL AT ONCE pour the dry mixture into the second bowl with the wet ingredients while beating or whisking it together. PLEASE - Do not pour the entire dry mixture into the wet bowl all at once because when your start beating it together it will make the dry mix fly out of the bowl and all over you and your kitchen. Pour it in some at a time while beating slowly.
Get the Tins Ready
Get your 2 muffin tins and put the 16 muffin/cupcake liners in them.
Pour in the Mix
Once you have lined your tins with the liner, you can pour the muffin mix into all 16 spaces. You can fill each one up with mix about 3/4 full.
Put Them Into the Oven
Once you have filled each muffin liner in the tins and your oven is done preheating, you can carefully put both tins into the oven. Once the oven is closed, set a timer/let the mix bake for 15-17 minutes.
Check to See If They're Ready
After the 15-17 minutes of baking, before fully taking the tins out of the oven, you can check to make sure the cupcakes are fully baked by sticking a toothpick or fork into the middle of one. If the toothpick or fork comes out with nothing on it, you can go ahead and pull the tins out of the oven. But if it comes out with wet mix on it, you can bake them for another minute or two and then check again until they're ready.
Let Them Cool
Once fully cooked and done, you can take your cupcake tins out of the oven and place them on top of your stove. Make sure to not take the cupcakes out immediately because they will be hot and if you try to decorate them right away, the icing will melt and be difficult to spread on. Let them cool in the tins before taking them out for at least 5-10 minutes. Don't forget to turn off your stove!!
Optional Decorations
Once letting them cool and taking them out of the tins, you can eat or leave your cupcakes how they are or you can decorate them. Your choice!
