How to Cook In-N-Out's Animal Style Fries
This not so secret item from the menu is a fries top with cheese, onion and a twangy sauce.
First We Need to Make the Sauce.
In a bowl add:
- ½ cup of mayo.
- ½ cup of ketchup
- 1 finely chopped pickle
- 1 Tbsp of yellow mustard
- ½ Tsp of salt
- ½ Tsp of black pepper
- ½ Tsp of sugar/
- 1 Tsp of apple cider vinegar.
Mix it all together.
Place in the fridge until needed.
Next Dice One Onion.
Heat a pan over medium, add some oil.
Fry off the onions until they begin to brown.
Deep Fry Your Fries at 350f or 170c, for a Recipe Like This I Normally Use Frozen Fries.
Drain the fries before seasoning with salt, I’m using an Aussie favourite Chicken Salt.

While Your Fires Are Still Nice and Hot, Place Them on a Plate.
Then place enough layers of American cheese to cover most of the fries.
Because the fries are hot the cheese will melt.
Top with the onion.
Finally, pour over the sauce.

The crispy fries combine with the melt cheese and twangy makes dish naughty but insanely tasty.
