How to Cook Crispy Salt and Pepper Squid
The perfect summer dish, the warm, Crispy Salt and Pepper Squid with a great fresh salad will be a sure fire hit with your friends and family.
To Start Off, Fill a Pan or a Pot With Oil Till Is About an Inch and Half Deep.
Heat to a temp of 190c/375f.
Next We Need to Make the Breading.
In a bowl add:
- 1 1/2 cups of rice flour
- 2 tbsp of black pepper
- 2 tbsp of salt
- 1/2 tsp of Chinese five spice
Mix it all together.
Next Crack Two Eggs Into Another Bowl.
Whisk together, this will act as a wash which will help the breading stick to the squid.
Take Three Squid Tubes, Slice Through the Tube ½ and Inch or 1 Cm Apart.
This will give you perfect squid rings.
Now That the Heat Is Up to Temp. Set Up a Bread Station Next to the Pan.
First, dip the squid rings into the egg wash and then toss in the rice flour mix till fully coated.
Carefully lower each piece into the oil, always make sure to lower it away from you.
Fry the Squid for Only 30 to 60 Seconds
You don’t want to over cook them making them rubbery.
Once cooked place the cooked squid onto a plate lined with paper towel to drain.
