How to Carve a Pumpkin
Halloween is a great time of year to try your hand at a new and fun project. Hi my name is Allyson. I help people get into the spooky spirt! I can help get ready for the big day… Halloween. Today, here is one easy way to get into the Halloween spirt. Without a doubt your house will be the highlight of the trick or treaters night.
Supplies
Before starting this project make sure to collect all materials needed. Materials need are, pen, damp cloth, pumpkin carving tool set, flat-edged ice cream scoop or scraper scoop and last but not least grab a pumpkin! After gathering all the materials make sure to have a clean space to start carving.
Immediately following, place your pumpkin on the clean flat surface. Then you will want to grab your damp cloth and give your pumpkin a nice little wipe down. Try and get as much dirt off as possible. Getting dirt off your pumpkin will make it look nicer at the end.
Soon after, make a circle on the top of the pumpkin. To make the circle grab your pen and draw one. Make sure the circle is around the stem of the pumpkin and that is big enough to reach your hand inside. After making the circle go ahead and cut it out. When finished cutting out the circle on top set it aside because we will need it again later. When there is a big hole in the top of your pumpkin use the flat-edged ice cream scoop to scrape out all of the seeds inside the pumpkin. Once getting the seeds out just go ahead throw those away. When all the seeds are out of the pumpkin put the scraper scoop away.
Afterwards, grab the pen. Wait for the pumpkin to dry off before using the pen. After the pumpkin is dried, start to trace whatever design you would like your pumpkin to be. If unsure what design to do, go and look on the internet. There are many different designs that you could choose from. After choosing design for the pumpkin go ahead and start tracing the design onto the pumpkin.
Finally, after tracing the design onto the pumpkin, it is time to start carving the pumpkin. Grab your pumpkin carving tool set. Grab your carving knife and use your traced design as a guide on where to cut. Once finished cutting take out the pieces that are inside the area you cut around. Then just keep cutting out your design until all the pieces that need to be out are out.
Last but not least, grab your stem of your pumpkin and put it back on top of your pumpkin. Another fun idea is to put a small candle inside the pumpkin but that is totally optional. After completing all of these easy steps you will have a wonderful pumpkin that all the neighbor’s kids will be talking about. Remember this is a great activity for your family and friends to get into the Halloween spirit.
