How to Bake Tasty Pork Chops
Pork chops are a staple dinner in most American households. There are many ways to cook them, being frying, baking, sauteing, and the like. Today, we will be baking pork chops, as it is, in my opinion, the simplest, most time saving method of cooking.
Supplies
a baking sheet
- olive oil
- aluminum foil
- cutting knife
- salt
- pepper
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- GOYA brand Adobo
- vinegar/lemon juice
Pre-preparation
- If already frozen, remove your pork chops from the freezer and let thaw until the pork chop is tender on the inside and outside.
Preparation
- Turn on your oven and preheat it at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. As it is warming up, use a suitable bowl and fill it with one of the following
- water/vinegar
- lemon juice
This will be used to wash the meat and clean it from germs/excess fat
Author's note: Most grocery stores clean their meat prior to packaging, but some do not do this as well as others. As a precaution against germs and salmonella, I always wash my meat, regardless of where I buy it from or if it says "pre-washed". My family is from the South, and it is definitely a cultural habit, but it still works.
Flavor
For seasonings, we will use the Adobo, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic, and onion powder.
For each chop:
- Coat the chop in Adobo
- Sprinkle roughly 1 tsp of salt, paprika, and garlic powder
- Follow up with a dash or pepper and onion powder
- Rub the seasonings through the surface of the chop until it becomes a uniform reddish color
The Oven
- Cover the baking sheet with aluminum foil, then coat the foil with olive oil
- Place the pork chops on the aluminum foil
- Place the pork chops in the oven for 25-30 minutes
Judging the Meat
After 25 minutes, your porkchop should be done. Remove your porkchop and cut a small piece down the middle to check the inside. If the inside looks pinkish, put it back in the oven and bake for another 5-10 minutes until the inside becomes a whitish color. Once done, remove and let sit for 5 minutes. This is to let the juices continue marinating for additional flavor. After this, you are free to eat your porkchop however you please! Enjoy!
