Preheat the Oven
The first thing to do is to preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 180 degrees Celsius. This is best done before going on with the next steps so that by the time you are done, the oven will be ready to cook the brownies!
Melt the Butter
Begin to melt 1 cup (2 sticks) of butter by microwaving it in 30 second intervals until it is fully melted. Should roughly take a minute or so depending on the microwave.
Add Sugar
Once the butter is melted, add in about 1 ¼ cups of sugar. This can change depending on how sweet you want to make the brownies.
Add Eggs
Crack two large eggs into the mixture. Mix until the eggs are just incorporated, if you mix it too much the brownies will turn out to be too dense.
Add Vanilla Extract
After incorporating the butter, sugar, and eggs thoroughly. Add 1 teaspoons of vanilla extract into the mixture.
Melt Chocolate
Melt ¾ cup of chocolate chips at 15 second intervals in the microwave. Set it aside to cool before adding it into the bowl or else it will cook the eggs.
Add Dry Ingredients
Grab the ¾ cup flour, ¼ cup cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt, and begin to sift it into the wet ingredient mixture. Then, fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, but make sure not to overmix to ensure that the brownies will not have a cake-like consistency.
Add Chocolate Chips
Fold in about a handful of chocolate chips into the mixture.
Prepare the Pan
If you use a muffin pan, spray some non-stick cooking spray then line it with cupcake holders. Fill each cup with ¼ cup of brownie mix.
If you use a 9x9 pan, spray some non-stick cooking spray then line it with parchment paper. Pour the entire mixture into the pan.
Bake
Put the brownies in the oven for 20-25 minutes. I would recommend checking in after 17 minutes.
When the brownies look ready, stick a fork in it and see if the fork comes out clean. If it doesn't, then the brownies will need to keep baking for a couple more minutes.
Cool Down 😎
Leave the brownies in the pan to cool down for about 30 minutes to an hour before decorating.
Decorate!
You can use red icing or candy melts to create hearts on the brownies!
Additionally, you may add sprinkles and chocolate chips as well. Feel free to get as creative as you want.
Enjoy!
